Dartington Sinfonietta Redux Dartington Great Hall Sunday 26 March 2017

Dartington Sinfonietta

International conductor returns to South West to create new orchestra

March 26th sees the eagerly anticipated launch of the Dartington Sinfonietta, a new professional orchestra formed with the purpose of serving Devon and Cornwall with classical performances of the highest standard.

The orchestra is the brainchild of Simon Capet, a multi-award-winning conductor who has recently moved back to the South West after two decades living and working in Canada and the USA.

An Exeter boy, Simon studied at the Royal Academy of Music before going on to conduct many groups across North America including the Vancouver Opera, New York Pops and Toronto Philharmonia.

Over the past decade Simon has built a strong reputation for his innovative approach to presenting classical music. This reputation has largely been built on taking chamber arrangements of large-scale orchestral works into unusual venues like nightclubs, community halls and even shopping centres.

“Our goal for the Dartington Sinfonietta is very simple”, enthuses Simon. “We want to serve the people and communities of Devon and Cornwall by taking fantastic music into all communities however small or remote.”

For more information on the Dartington Sinfonietta and the upcoming concert, Simon Capet can be contacted by email at simon@simoncapet.com or telephone at 07599 684312
